English courses for adults in groups of no more than 14 students
The benefit of coming to Mountlands Language School for your English lessons, is that we offer small, personal classes, of no more than 14 students per group.
This ensures that you have plenty of personal teacher time, and can really see fast, effective results with your English learning!
Our courses for adult learners are designed to challenge and motivate learners to develop their English language skills in authentic contexts.
Following a placement test on your first morning, students are placed by ability in a group of no more than 14 students. The levels vary, but we usually offer Elementary, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate courses.
Please note that we ONLY accept Beginners and Advanced students on a one to one basis.
GENERAL SYLLABUS OVERVIEW
The Mountlands adult programmes are skills-based and use a core coursebook supplemented with authentic materials sourced from the internet, newspapers, magazines and journals where appropriate.
Classroom activities focus on developing practical speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as boosting learners range of vocabulary.
Our approach to grammar is one that encourages students to explore and discover the patterns of English. Since students will undertake tasks that simulate real life situations, the grammar focus will be on structures that the students actually need to complete each task successfully.

- 'grammar under the radar' - you won't learn long lists of grammar rules (and exceptions!): instead the grammar will form a natural part of the learning process
General English
This is a 15 lesson course which offers grammar based lessons on a variety of topics. Each class gives you the opportunity to practice speaking, listening, reading and writing. Each lesson is 55 minutes long.
All students follow a course book which the teachers supplement throughout often bringing the language alive and allowing students to activate learnt language.
£200 per week
Please note, course books are not included in the price. We advise you to bring your own vocabulary book
